Expert Profile:

Duan Hongtao is primarily engaged in the research of lake and watershed informatics. He is currently a researcher, member of the Academic Committee, and director of the Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Science Laboratory at the Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also a recipient of the national young talent program. In addition, he serves as the Vice Chairman of the Youth Earth Science Forum, Vice Director of the Key Laboratory of Watershed Geographic Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a distinguished professor at Northwest University. He holds editorial positions in 7 high-impact journals, including the International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation (Q1). As the first/corresponding author, he has published more than 70 SCI papers in journals such as Science Bulletin, Earth-Science Reviews, and Remote Sensing of Environment. He has led projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (6 projects, including 1 joint key project), Jiangsu Province Distinguished Youth Foundation, and national major science and technology projects (water project). For four consecutive years, he has been listed in the "Top 2% Scientists Worldwide." He has received honors such as Outstanding Member of the Youth Promotion Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Special Prize of the President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the National Youth Geography Science and Technology Award. His achievements have been widely applied in key lakes and reservoirs across the country, including Lake Taihu, Chaohu Lake, Dianchi Lake, Hongze Lake, Luoma Lake, Tianmu Lake, and Changtan Reservoir. He has won 3 first prizes and 1 second prize at the provincial and ministerial level in science and technology.
